Leland Ironworks

For the month of October, Andreas Kindler von Knobloch and I were awarded a residency space at Leland Ironworks, a living/work space with sculptor Lee Kelly. Leland Ironworks is located in rural Oregon City, Oregon.

We were both intrigued to create work from the land, whether that work was based on measurements, experience, or through direct physical labor. We were also interested in the collaboration effect that being out at the residency might have. With both of us, Andreas and myself, coming from different making backgrounds, we wanted to see what each of us could “bring to the table” and how we would then navigate those techniques, tools, and ideas.

The residency lasted the month of October 2016.

There was a group exhibition in November 2016 that showcased all of the residents from the year. The exhibition ran from November 3 to November 23, 2016 at The Dolly Lemelson Mezzanine at 511 NW Broadway in Portland, Oregon.
